On the ride: “Johnny knows this mare very well. We’ve had to wait a bit of time and I think that’s why she’s been able to string a few together. We were conscious it was a fairly leader biased track as the day wore on, so we didn’t want to be too far off them. You could see him hustling her along three-wide, he had cover the whole and had a pretty good run, but I did think when the other horse came at her that she does have a lot of fighting qualities and to do what she’s doing, at this trip of 1400 (metres) she’s going to get a lot further, she’s got a really bright future.”

Feeling pressure for the first time: “She won pretty well at her first two runs and she’s learning as she’s going along. I’ve got a lot of time for her and there’s no better man than Johnny in a finish like that.”

What’s now: “We’ll probably stretch her out. I was pretty keen to get her out to a mile for this start but there wasn’t the right race. We went 1400 and got away with it, so we’ll definitely stretch her out.”

Winning Jockey: John Allen

Very tough mare: “We were a little sluggish away and got into that three-wide line. We got a nice run through. We got pushed a little wide on the corner and she had to sustain a long run, but that is one of her strengths. The runner-up got past her and we ran away from her a little bit, but she really dug in over the last 100 metres.”

She’s going places: “Definitely. She’ll be better when she gets over ground and hopefully with a bit of give in the track.”
