 Prince Ziggy (Maddi Price/Jamie Edwards) - $31

Winning Time: 2:30.82 Last 600m: NA

Margins: 1-¾ Lengths x 2-½ Lengths

Winning Trainer: Jamie Edwards

On the winner: “This little mare is flying. She bolted in at Geelong the other day this horse and she was just in such good form - I had (Prince) Ziggy set for this race - but I thought I’ll throw the little mare in and see how she goes.

“She’s an eight-year-old mare, she’s won eight or nine races, how good is that?”

On winning a race at the Carnival: “These big stables, Symon Wilde and Ciaron Maher, we’re sort of kidding ourselves trying to take them on, but both of these horses were in great order, their work through the week was right up to this and it’s fantastic. I’m rapt for them.

“I reckon it’s my first winner in 15 years here. I trai a lot of winners at Warrnambool, we go well at Warrnambool, but the Carnival is too strong for our little stable so over the moon to win a race.”

Winning Jockey: Daniel Moor

On first Carnival winner since 2017: “It’s good to be back. I’ve had a few lean years at The Bool.

“I’ve been here, there and everywhere, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mauritius and all the way in between.

“It’s good to be back. I said g’day to my dad down there by the gap - he’s working on the track these days, keeping himself busy - so it was good to see him because I haven’t seen him for about two years.

On winning for Jamie Edwards: “It’s nice for Jamie Edwards to get a winner here, obviously it’s a very tough carnival because the local trainers prepare their horses for this carnival and he’s done a great job with her today, she was very soft at the finish.”

On the way the race panned out: “Everything went out the window because she just didn’t travel at all early and in my mind when we’re not travelling we’ve got to get the fence and rest as best we can.

“Down by the 1000 (metres) she started to come back into my hands and I was confident she was picking up well and she picked her way through the field and was too good late.

“It went against every plan we had in the run but it proved effective in the finish.”
