“She’s a very light, lean horse that doesn’t carry a lot of surplus.

“Early in her career we challenged her at stakes level in Adelaide and I thought she was a Saturday city horse all the way through.

“I felt like we’ve underachieved with her. Training her like a normal horse probably didn’t suit and I cut it back a little bit. We got a couple of results here and there and she’s better than what she is.

“This prep has been her best prep so far and she’s actually progressing which is huge. Her last run I thought was awesome - she put a benchmark 64 field away.

“We put her a couple of grades higher and she couldn’t be more impressive. They ran along nicely and she’s had to circumnavigate a fair way out and make a good sustained run. Credit to her, she toughed it out.

“A great bunch of owners and they support me heavily. I’m very appreciative of their patronage and all I want to do is train winners and put smiles on their faces. I enjoy every winner I get, I love it.”

Winning Jockey: Jye McNeil

“It’s a good thing that you know her because she is a bit quirky. She tends to not like being inside horses and at one stage I could have been three back the fence but I chose to be about six lengths further back and be last and come around them.

“I think that has won her the race in the end because she could get to the outside of them, she was happy and lengthened really nicely.

“It is a great reward for the owners because she had a few runs at the beginning of her campaign where they gave her a really good grounding to be in this position now that she is fit and getting up to a trip.

“There was genuine speed and these types of races tend to slow up down the side near the 1000 (metre mark) and that’s when we were about to creep into the race in a straight line without doing much work.

“We had to cover a bit of ground around the bend but she was on the outside and happy albeit a little bit ugly.”
