On teaming up with Jordan Childs: “That was a super effort coming from back last, it was a great ride by Jordan. I walked out of the hotel this morning and he was the first jockey I saw, I thought, ‘that’s a good omen’.

On the wet track: “It was either he’s going to handle it or not, so I basically said to Jordan just ride him how you think. If he’s not handling it on the inside then come out wide.

“He was so good first-up. He’s just been really flying this campaign and he obviously swam through it.

On winning at Warrnambool: “It’s great to get a win here at the Bool and especially for OTI. We won a Group 1 last weekend and a win here at the Bool, so life’s great at the moment.”

Winning Jockey: Jordan Childs

On coming from last: “The plan wasn’t to be that far back but he just stood in the gates and missed it. When that happened I just went to Plan B and rode a patient race.

“He was always travelling so well in the ground I just had to bide my time until I wanted to let him go.

“We got to the outside and he really relished that ground. Terry Henderson gave me confidence, he thought he’d handle it, and on the way to the gates he got through it nicely and it always gives you confidence when you’re on the way to the gates and they’re travelling nicely.

On the Heavy 10 track: “It’s definitely hard work for them out there today but he seems to have a lot more turn of foot and a lot sharper this time in. Obviously first-up over a mile he was very good at Sandown and then coming here today on a wet track he showed an electric turn of foot

On winning at the Carnival: “I’ve had a bit of luck here over the years so it’s good to get my first winner this week.”
