On the winner’s name: “It’s a terrific result. It’s a good bunch of owners, a big bunch of owners, and the name is actually good, Friday at Five. She is part-owned by the Red Lion Racing Syndicate, Dave Canny and the crew from down there, so each Friday we have beer at the Red Lion, so Friday at Five.

On the filly: “She had a bit of racing, so she’s a fit horse. I actually trained the sister, Foreign Affair, and she was terrific on the wet so we always thought this filly would handle it and she has previously and obviously did today.”

On her future: “Over winter, she should step up to midweek city grade, that sort of thing. She’s probably earned a little reprieve now, a little freshen up, but in the depths of June and July at Sandown on Wednesdays she could be a chance of winning something.”

On a pre-race incident“I was saddling her up one out and she just did a little shimmy shammy and stepped on my toe and it didn’t tickle but it feels better now.”

Winning Jockey: Mitchell Aitken

On the win: “It’s great (to win at the Carnival), especially for Henry as well, so it’s good to get her maiden out of the way.”

On the performance: “She really digs deep and I’m a little bit surprised that it’s taken this long to get her maiden out of the way but she’s done it in fantastic fashion.

“I just wanted to take my time to get across and let her be comfortable with winkers (on) first time. She does get a bit fired up, so I was happy to take my time to get there and she relaxed beautifully for me.”
