Winning Trainer: Ben & JD Hayes (Ben speaking)

“He was a little bit green first-up and we actually thought it was a very good run. With the application of winkers, he did look to roll along in that race but he was still green and dropped the bit.

“He joined in at the right time and Craig had to make him win but I thought it was impressive.

“I want to see how he pulls up but it was a nice win. Jamarra’s not a bad guide - has been very competitive around the good horse so well just see he comes through it and make a plan from there.”

Winning Jockey: Craig Williams

On his trip to Poland > Ukraine: “I felt like I could do a really good deed for the people that are quite defenceless against the Russian oppression. It made me feel that I had a bit more of a step in my stride with the respect (for them) and the liberties, and how fortunate we are here in Australia in a democracy.”

The horse: “Blaike McDougall who rode him on debut said he was a really nice professional horse and then when Ben Hayes legged me up he said that this was a really lucky pick-up for me today (L Nolen originally booked).

“Cantering around to the gates he’s got a really good action and he won with nice authority today.”
