Winning Trainer: John Thompson (Luke Buller speaking)

On the break between runs: “I think she just needed that dry surface and it was the right time, right place for this race. John and Joe (O’Neil) had a chat and thought they'd bring her down and it’s great placement.

Coming to Melbourne: “The only question was whether she’d get around this way of going, and coming to the turn she let down and got on the right leg and was a bit too good for them.”

“She prefers being on top of the ground so they’ll discuss (her staying in Melbourne), it was the perfect ride by Blaike and definitely worth the trip down.”

Winning Jockey: Blaike McDougall

Her turn of foot: “It’s the way to ride her. At the half mile, I looked up and thought I’m not meant to be this far back, but she was in a lovely rhythm but being that far back let me ride the race that needed to be ridden. The way I rode her is the way to ride her and it’s a credit to Brock Ryan, he’s formed a nice relationship with her and I just tried to replicate one of his rides, and we got a little bit of luck.”

Riding a winner for John: “John used to be my master when I was an apprentice and I said she wants 1200m and John told me no, she needs to be ridden quieter at 1000m and sure enough, a few runs later over 1000m she won. To get the job done for the old master on a Saturday in a different state, it’s a touching win.”
