Winning Trainer: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott (represented by Rebecca Shanks)

“I just got off the phone with Gai. She’s really ecstatic about her. She said that you definitely can’t beat these short back-up horses. She’s tough, she’s fit and she’s ready to race. Perfect race.

“She was so unlucky last start behind the speed so going forward today was taking the luck out of the race and she was tough enough to do it.

“She’s lovely. All of the horses are well educated and she’s a lovely staying type. Not much bothers her.”

Winning Jockey: Jordan Childs.

“I was quietly confident. We had it our own way in front, she had her ears pricked the whole way so when we got attacked a bit early from the 600 (metre mark), I was always keen that she’d be able to fight them off.

“Gai and Adrian have their horses really fit and you’ll know they’ll be tough in the finish. I think she outstayed them in the end. They all got to her but she was able to kick back and win and I think she has a good staying future ahead of her.”
