ON the horse: “We bought him to run in the Derby and he got there but we did a speed gene test on him and it showed that he might be better, more effective, over shorter trips and we’ve trained him that way and he’s been really sharp.

“The first up win was good, I think the favourite was following him but he showed a great turn of foot and up to 1400 today he took the race by the scruff of the neck and he’s hard to get past.”

On future goals: “Probably anything up to 2000 (metres). We might just gradually go up in trip, I think there might be something over in Adelaide for him now he’s got a couple of wins and we’ll probably track that way.”

On the run: “He jumped nicely, he relaxed nice early, I just had Hordy Childs annoying us a little bit outside him. If Jordy had have crossed him I think he would have settled a little better, but having said that, I was able to control the race from where I was and knew he’d be strong late.”

On him as a horse: “His best quality is probably his attitude. For a colt, he doesn’t turn a hair, he doesn’t look at another horse, he’s just so casual and laid back and just conserves energy. He’s a nice horse.”
