Surprising win: “It was a nice way to finish the day. Some of the owners might not be too happy with me because I said she probably couldn’t win down the straight. Matt and I were delighted with the way she galloped Tuesday morning, but we thought it was probably more of a preparing run for next start.”

On the ride: “We thought she would probably like straight racing because she’d get a chance to build. Quite often she’s too far off the speed with her style and we didn’t know which side to go, but we left it up to him but you could see a long way out she was always going to be hard to beat.”

Winning Jockey: Matthew Cartwright

Made of position you were in: “I more kept it simple than picking for runs. We jumped, got taken out early, came back, let her travel and let her travel into it nicely. Robbie said she has one run, and one run only, and when we popped out I made sure it was one sustained gallop and she was strong to the line.”

Did you learn from the Newmarket: “I walked the track and I didn’t think there was much difference throughout. I just kept it simple, gave her one run and she was strong late.”
