“He’s certainly got stronger. I’ve seen him in Sydney over the last couple of weeks and I as I was putting the gear on he has a bigger girth now.

“He has furnished depth-wise which is good because if you look at him side on you think he’s tall but not that big, but when you look at him from behind he’s four-foot wide. He’s furnished into a strong, lovely horse.

“When this race came up it looked perfect for him. He’s ticked off another box now and won at Caulfield. He’s pretty adaptable horse and he did what he did at Flemington on New Year’s Day, it took him a few strides but then he went whoosh.”

Next: “The truth is that the discussion was had on Thursday and we said let’s have the race on Saturday before the decision is made.

“He could very easily go to the paddock now and have another break and get ready for the spring. He’s a restricted horse running through the grades and we haven’t looked for another race.

“He’s done a good job first-up. It has been tough up there (in Sydney). You have to trial on the Polytrack with the way the weather has been so he’s done a good job.”

Winning Jockey: Jye McNeil

“He’s obviously been out for a bit of a break since then (NYD) and naturally he was a little bit fresh which you would expect first-up which caused him to be slightly slow away.

“I felt at the halfway mark we were in a sticky situation but luckily he was good enough to get me out of that.

“He’s a little bit untapped. I think the better horses that he’s got to chase and follow the better performance you’ll see from him.

“(Greenness) was still there a little bit but he had a horse follow most of the way up the straight and when we went past the leader he did want to duck left and change strides a bit but he’s still learning which is a good thing because there’s plenty of upside.”
