Winning Trainer: Lindsey Smith (Shane Jackson speaking)

On the horse: “It’s just a huge relief. We think an awful lot of this horse, he’s probably the best horse we have in the stable.

“He had a little bit of a hiccup - he had a health issue after Flemington - but thankfully we got to the bottom of that and he’s back in form.

“I don’t think he would have loved that ground, but good horses can get away with it. He was good enough to get through it.”

On being vetted pre-race: “I think that was a mistake. I asked them, I said, ‘why are we getting vetted?’ and they said he brushed the rail but I think they mixed up the two horses because Kissinger brushed the rail on the way out.

On the team: “The other horse (runner-up Proconsent) ran a cracker and Kissinger ran well too. He got home (well) and he wants more ground.

“The team is going well, we had a frustrating day yesterday, but most of them are running very, very well and it’s great to be getting winners here.”

Winning Jockey: Jarrod Fry

On riding three winners: “We’ve had a ripping day. The first couple of days were a bit slow but it’s all coming together.

“Lindsey and his team have given me great support and we’re having a ripper time together and hopefully it can keep continuing on.

On the track: “He probably took a little bit to get mobile and get through it but just around the side I kept him out of the rough stuff. I went for a walk before the race and I thought hard up on the fence was the place to be, we navigated our way back down there and he won with quite a lot in hand.”

On Tuvalu’s ability: “He was miles above them and he won with good authority but he still had a bit in the tank.”
