Viking Flagship, one of the most popular and bravest chasers of the 1990s, wins the first of two Champion Chases in 1994 as he rallied to fend off the challenges of Travado and Deep Sensation for a narrow success in the hands of Adrian Maguire.

Trainer David Nicholson broke his duck in the race with victory here, with his popular chaser following up 12 months later in the hands of Charlie Swan.

Nicholson said: "He is the hardest, toughest horse I have ever been privileged to know."
