Today’s Horse Racing Tips – October 6

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for major Australian TAB meetings on October 6.

Five major metropolitan meetings are held today at Randwick, Flemington, Doomben, Morphettville and Belmont.

Randwick: Race 7 @ 4:00pm

Thinkin' Big expected to take it up. THINKIN' BIG was hugely impressive in winning the Gloaming Stakes a fortnight ago. Was returning from an eight week freshen and stepping up to 1800m for the first time but put 2.5 lengths on his nearest rival. Will be fitter for the run. The Gloaming Stakes-Spring Champion Stakes double is a common one. History suggests he will be hard to beat. Lone look at a heavy track returned a debut victory. DEALMAKER has placed in each of his two runs this prep. Has found the line well in both the Ming Dynasty and the Stan Fox Stakes. Bred to relish getting up over ten furlongs. TARKA ran second to Thinkin' Big last start. Never looked like getting the better of him but kept chasing. Gets the Blinkers on for the first time. ARAMAYO the best of the rest after impressing to win the Spring Stakes at Newcastle. VISAO a value runner. Showing promise in Victoria. Was luckless last start off a freshen up. SELECTIONS: Can't go past #1 Thinkin' Big from #5, #2, #4 and #8.

Flemington: Race 7 @ 4:20pm

AVILIUS will come up a well-fancied favourite here and that is fair enough on what we have seen from him to date. Sharp acceleration saw him too good in his first couple in Sydney and then he sustained the burst to win over 2000m last time. Form overseas says he can stretch it to this trip. No issues at all getting out over further for OUR VENICE BEACH who has run two solid races at 2000m and can now flex his muscles with the emphasis switching to stamina. Looks hard to get past. YOGI is going really well and the Flemington 2500m suits better than what he has tackled this prep so far. Respect Jaameh. SELECTIONS: Want to have #2 Our Venice Beach on side from #1, #10 and #9.

Doomben: Race 7 @ 3:32pm

PIZONIE returned well when third to Defence Missile last start and is likely to improve on that effort. DEFENCE MISSILE has been racing in very good form of late, winning his last two starts, Back up to the 1200m today and won over this C/D by an impressive 5L two runs back and from barrier 3 with the apprentice claim looks the top pick again. SNICKI MINAJ looks an each way hope. SELECTIONS: #7 Pizonie for the win from #1 and #4.

Benz Picture: Racing and Sports

Morphettville Parks: Race 4 @ 2:31pm (AEST)

A number capable of leading. BENZ resumes off Listed races and is sharp fresh. Has won 3/3 here and gets the claim and can prove too sharp. ATLANTICA is up to this at best and forgiving the FU run. The claimer will use the low gate and sharp improvement won’t surprise. NODOUBTABOUTIT is better than the form looks on paper and he’s won a trial since last seen. Gets the 3kg claim and rail and the tongue tie goes on and blinkers off. SELECTIONS: #1 Benz will be ready and looks the bet from #6 and #5.

Belmont: Race 5 @ 6:00pm (AEST)

Good competitive affair to kick off the Quaddie with a number of leading chances. Speed anticipated from Greco, New Time, Patrocity and Forseen. ARCADIA PRINCE failed to fire at his last start prior to a break, however his two previous efforts were very good and leave him well placed. Sole trial in the lead up was solid and he has never missed the money fresh. Drawn to get a lovely run and the 1400m should suit first up. Hard to beat. Last start winner A KNIGHT OF PRO the next in line after the scratching of Just Like Fire. SELECTIONS: Keen on #4 Arcadia Prince in his return from #1.
