Today’s Horse Racing Tips – February 28

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on February 28.

Six TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Thursday at Ballina, Wyong, Kyneton, Pakenham, Rockhampton & Pinjarra.

Wyong: Race 1 @ 1:15pm

SIR OWEN returned from a 19-week spell last start as a gelding and impressed when runner-up over 1100m at Gosford. Raced handy that day but lacked the turn of foot of the winner. Suited by an extra 100m and with added fitness is well-placed to go one better. Godolphin's BUOYANCY has not raced since finishing a modest 3rd on debut over 1000m at Kembla in September. Has been gelded since that run and is trialling well so expect a bright performance. Looks a race in two as the betting suggests. JAYTEES was safely held on debut over 1100m at Gosford but showed enough to suggest he is a trifecta hope. SELECTIONS: Win bet #5 Sir Owen.

Kyneton: Race 4 @ 4:05pm

Wide open race. CELESTIAL KING (3) was well held last time but can do far better here. Back a lot in grade and was back in trip where he was run off his legs. Drawn well here and can sit much closer. Expected to improve sharply. YOELQUI (6) also drops in class. In top form and despite the wide gate can get home into the finish. FULLFORWARD (1) was winner two back in this class then the rider dropped the whip latest when placed. MINT ON MOSELEY (5), MEOW (8), and TIDAL ROSE (10) are all winning chances on their best form. SELECTIONS: Keen on Celestial King, well back in class.

Pinjarra: Race 3 @ 5:55pm

UNI TIME (5) has just missed at Ascot both race runs and finds easier. Draws handy and fitter will be very tough to roll. INDIAN CHANT (6) will sit handy and missed a lip 3U also at Ascot. Should clear the gate and is feared. ALL APPEAL (3) was just nudged out at Belmont on debut and had been well trialled for the resumption. Won’t have to improve much to play a leading role. EMBASSY SQUARE (2) is an improver who gets the blinkers first time. SELECTIONS: #5 Uni Time looks well-placed.

Rockhampton Race 8 @ 6:15pm

LITTLE HUNTER (5) brought good form to the resumption and he just missed the placings as favourite. The rise in trip suits and he has plenty up the sleeve. VAN WINKEL (9) improved missing a nose here the latest. Will likely push forward and will go close if it works out. ALL PICKLED (7) was good winning FU and was a bit plain last time. Fitter and expect an improved run. GAMBIT (6) is also a chance forgiving the latest. SELECTIONS: #5 Little Hunter looks a good chance to roll the favourite.

Pakenham: Race 5 @ 8:00pm

THINK I'M DREAMING (1) looks hard to run down. Small field suits and can slide forward here. In great form and shapes as the one to beat again. ZEBREEZ (4) was a fresh up winner then failed to handle the slow going latest. Fitter and worth another chance. NAOMI (3) is a last start winner who has further upside and GOOSEY FAIR (5) is ready to show best. SELECTIONS: Think I'm Dreaming looks the one to beat.
