Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on March 3.
It’s Wangaratta Cup Day and there is a good undercard of racing with meetings at Mudgee, Colac, Bordertown, Sunshine Coast and Esperance.
Wangaratta Race 6 @ 3:00pm
Genuine early speed in the Cup. Silent Warrior (1) will kick up from the inside alley. The Willybe (8) will look to cross from his middle gate. Call Me Handsome (11) and Amralah (12) will need luck to find cover from wide draws, as Here To There (4) and Doogan's Rise (7) won't be far away. HERE TO THERE had no luck at all last time, in Sydney, behind the talented Seaway. He raced wide, without cover, but still battled on well. He's been given time to get over that run and should get a better outcome from gate four here. Fourth up, he looks well placed to tackle this distance and should give a sight. Could be value. CALL ME HANDSOME has the form to take this out, finishing close up behind Avilius and Sikandarabad at his last two starts. Very good form for a race like this. The wide draw and the good early speed, is a concern, as he's an on pace runner but he'll look the winner at some stage. EXCESSABEEL is very honest and has a good record at the distance. AMRALAH is the class runner but may need more time. SIN TO WIN and GOLDEN AUTHORITY could run well without surprising. SUGGESTED PLAY: Here To There is worth an each way ticket in a competitive Cup.

Mudgee Race 3 @ 1:55pm
HIGHLY DESIRED (3) is city trained and was looking for the hat-trick FU at Wyong when disappointing off a Rosehill trial placing. Looks well-placed and gets the high stable-striker Greg Ryan on first time. Uses the rail and expect sharp improvement. MISS HUGO A GOGO (7) won and then just went under at Dubbo improving again. Gets the weight drop and looks a genuine hope. CRIM (5) resumes and owns strong trials. The form stacks right up and should go close with Cahill booked. ATTALEA (2) has been around the mark and gets another chance from the low draw. SELECTION: #3 Highly Desired can get back to his best.
Sunshine Coast Race 3 @ 1:40pm
EXACTAMENTE (1) is fitter for two runs back and looks very well placed here to break through. Placed at both and with a perfect trail off the low draw will be tough to stop. Scratched from a race later in the card for this. CUZCO (2) was well in the market on debut and had little luck but was a solid fourth. Look for good improvement in this. PER ARDUA (8) placed at last two before a spell. Has been gelded since and can return with a forward run here. LUCKY FIX (9) was close to a maid win before a break and is among the chances. SPARTAN JET (10) can give a sight from the low draw. SUGGESTED PLAY: Exactamente looks well placed to score.
Bordertown Race 2 @ 2:00pm
TROJOHNSTAR (6) runs along and was just beaten at Kingscote at her third run when expected to win. The two runs prior stack right up and Tourneur is a key jockey booking. HURRY HOME HARRY (2) has been good the last two at the provincials and finds the right race today. Will sit handy and go close. LIVELY LASS (5) was a bit new at Murray Bridge on debut but had support and quick improvement wouldn't surprise. SELECTION: Small fields and cramped odds the order of the day. #6 Trojohnstar may represent a touch of value.
Esperance Race 5 @ 3:40pm
RED MOON (7) was slowly away and always well back in town last time. Winner the start prior and rates well here. Expected to go close. SHIRASCA (9) has been long overdue for a win with placings last five. Drawn wide but will push forward and expected to give a sight again. HUMANITY (1)was sixth in the same race as Shirasca latest but had nothing go right. Drawn perfectly here and no surprise to see sharp improvement. WATTO'S FURY (5) has been thereabouts and rates highly bit has to overcome the wide draw. ARMENIUS (6) rates next best. SUGGESTED PLAY: Red Moon expected to bounce back.
Armidale Race 6 @ 4:10pm
SHE'S CHOOSIE (5) turned in a nice run fresh to finish runner up over this journey on the Gold Coast. Rates strongly and with the claim and good draw will go close. INQUIRY (2) is a former Godolphin galloper who hasn't raced since a fifth at Moonee Valley. Fitter for a nice trial and from the inside will run well. ROCK THE WORLD (6) was a fresh up winner with a big weight. Fitter and with the minimum here can run a big race. LAWAN (4) should run a cheeky race fresh. SUGGESTED PLAY: She's Choosie looks very well placed.
Colac Race 4 @ 2:45pm
DIVINE MR TYCOON (1) has placed at both runs this campaign and should be at top for this. Freshened since running on hard in tougher company at Sandown and will take beating here. GROGANS ANVIL (2) won two end then has been runner up last two. Claim helps and will take catching on home track. AMASTRYKER (4) was a fresh up winner then struggled in the going last time, although still finished third. Drawn well and has strongly claims here. SHUT THE FRONTGATE (6) is a last start winner who will take catching off the inside gate. SHE KEEPS NOSECRET (8) was scratched recently for this and is among the chances. SUGGESTED PLAY: Divine Mr Tycoon overdue and gets chance.
