NT Licensed Bookmakers Granted Sign Up Bonus Grace Period

3 minute read

Bookmakers licensed in the Northern Territory have been given one month’s grace to comply with National Consumer Protection Framework measures.

The National Consumer Protection Framework from May 26 prevents bookmakers from offering potential customers incentives such as deposit matched and sign up bonuses for opening an account with them.

The Northern Territory Code of Practice for the Responsible Service of Online Gambling 2019 commenced on May 26 however the Northern Territory Racing Commission has provided a one month grace period to bookmakers licensed in the Northern Territory.

Non compliance issues must be identified and actioned prior to June 26 which means for now, deposit matched and sign up incentives for NT licensed bookmakers are still available during this grace period.

Major corporate bookmakers who fall into this category are Neds and Ladbrokes.
