Grafton: Race 8 @ 4:00pm

Expect this to be run at a genuine speed. Feature event of the day brings forward a very competitive contest. BRILLIANT JET (3) has a sense of timing about him. He's prepped well for this off two sharp trials. Blitzed them last time in. Sprints well over shorter trips but can stretch to 2000m plus and still perform. Loves it at Grafton. Will be hard to hold out. COGLIERE (4) will carry the local money. He's been a popular galloper around this neck of the woods and rightly so. Big odds in town two back and ran accordingly. More was expected of him last start but the weight could be to blame. Conditions suit today. Gets his chance. ZAMEX (2) will be rattling home. Hit and miss but back on top of the ground he can produce his best. PETROLOGY (1) should be thrown in the multiples. SELECTIONS: Backing #8 Future Score to win.

Port Augusta: Race 3 @ 1:35pm (AEDT)

HOWLOWCANYOUGO (2) has to be a huge chance. He has looked good in both wins but probably gets to a preferred trip and onto good conditions. The claim helps too and will have been set up to win this. WONDERFUL RIRI (3) was not far away in Melbourne. The stable can find the right races and is well drawn. LORD GILBERT (6) bolted in at Gawler. This is tougher now. COSMIC ALERT (1) tried hard resuming. The longer race will be of benefit. SELECTIONS: Keen on #2 Howlowcanyougo.

Devonport: Race 5 @ 1.50pm

Only a small field but a few could want the front. LIFFEYBEAU (2) won nicely first up but then went to Flemington and found that grade too tough. Does run his best races for Troy Baker. Tough to beat here. FRAGMENT (3) runs honest races. He finally draws a barrier to race a little closer. Should be right in the finish. UNDERPLAY (6) just might be best around this distance range. Has a top record here. KYOGLE SON (7) is another who has all his best form around Devonport. GEE GEES JET (1) has an excellent first up record. SELECTIONS: #2 Backing Liffeybeau.

Kalgoorlie Race 2 @ 3:15pm (AEDT)

No designated leader and perhaps Nicklaus takes up the opportunity. NICKLAUS (2) won a Lark Hill trial and was just nudged out resuming as favourite for the new yard. He's got two strong provincial figures under the belt and should be winning this on a 7 day return, crossing to the speed economically.  LITTLE FLIRT (8) also rates well and forgive the latest. He always needs a good ride but will be hitting the line. NIC'S DAUGHTER (9) was just beaten resuming in good order 7 days ago and she can build on that. TOMMY TO JACK (3) gets the blinkers again and may be next best. SELECTIONS: Expect #2 Nicklaus to tee off today.

Sunshine Coast: Race 7 @ 3.31pm

Speed to burn here headed by Weboughtazou and Sylvester. HOLLABACK GIRL (5) is a promising filly from the Gollan yard resuming from a ten-month spell in a suitable race. Started favourite at her only run last prep and demolished her rivals in a great front-running display over 1050m at Doomben. Won a recent trial so looks set to pick up where she left off from a lovely inside gate. The danger with the race-fitness edge is WEBOUGHTAZOU (1) who shared the lead into the straight last start and battled on well to finish a close 3rd over 1110m at Doomben. Races well at this circuit and has a good affinity with Ryan Maloney who is back aboard today. Expect one of this pair to win, with DEPTHS BELOW (3) fresh from a 260-day spell next best, ahead of SYLVESTER (6) who will give backers a sight out in front. SELECTIONS: #5 Hollaback Girl is very smart - back her to win.

Sunday: Pakenham Race 7 @ 4.25pm

Looks a good race for STARVIRGO (4) to break through. Overdue for a win with placings all three this time in. Low draw and expected to go close. RUBAN BLEU (5) was far too good in maiden class latest. Should be near top and rates highly here. WIND FORCE (2) is sure to improve again. Take catching with repeat of latest effort. LAUCHETTI (3) was in far tougher grade latest at Flemington. Has good speed and expected to take catching this class. MISS BELISA (11) is close to a win and among the chances here. SELECTIONS: Keen on Starvirgo to break through.
