Bathurst: Race 1 @ 1.05pm

Precious little early speed on paper for a sprint race. BLACK STAR BOWIE (1) impressed on debut last start over 1000m at Hawkesbury. winding up from last in the small field to finish an encouraging 2nd. Will prove very hard to hold out today over the extra trip back in a country maiden. PROMESA (4) started in the red but didn't threaten when a close 5th over 1000m at Narrandera recently. On the quick back-up and the blinkers go on so worth another chance. COMETUS (6) has been beaten narrowly in his last couple, most recently when a closing 3rd over 1320m at Dubbo. Putting it together now although a longer trip this time may have been more suitable. Hard to make a case for the others and the market agrees it is a race in three, with JONJO'S COMET (5) the pick of the rest. SELECTION: This looks tailor-made for #1 Black Star Bowie.

Casterton: Race 4 @ 2.00pm

STINGING REMARK (5) was well held latest on the heavy but rates highly here. Hard to beat off a low draw. SIR PELLIAS (4) is fitter and further improved. Don't underestimate. SASSY EM (11) will run the trip out and looks a leading chance despite the draw. DALGHAR BLUE (2) battled home on the heavy last time. Rates an each way hope here. CHABA CHARLI (1) rates well and among the main hopes. SELECTION: Stinging Remark gets chance to win.

Taree: Race 7 @ 3.50pm

A good test for the milers as a handful of these like to get along up on the pace. This race maps beautifully for AZARMIN (10) who will be ready to peak today after two runs back from a spell. Kept giving in the run home to finish 3rd last start over 1570m at Cessnock in a Class 2. Finds an easier assignment today and out of gate three gets a lovely trail and should have plenty to offer when popped the question. LUDDENHAM LASS (12) made a rare visit to the winner's stall last time out when she cleared right away to score comfortably in a Class 1 over this course and distance. Saves her best for the mile here and although up in grade cannot be underestimated. RED HEAT (4) was strong through the line when runner-up over 1512m at Port Macquarie recently. That was her first run for 230 days so there is plenty of improvement in the locker. ZUBROWKA (16) is racing well and worth a spot in multis. SELECTION: Very keen on #10 Azarmin.
