An intriguing rendition of the Group 2 EW Barker Trophy highlights the Kranji race meeting in Singapore on Friday.

The Barker has attracted 17 acceptors and plenty of them are winning chances so the race promises to be a great betting spectacle.

Last-start Group 1 placegetter Safeer has the form and the ratings on the board.

He was a real eye catcher last start when he rattled home for third in the Raffles Cup (1600m) in September in what was a career-best performance.

He has had a good freshen up since then but has been kept up to the mark with a trial win and the 1400m should suit at this stage of his preparation.

Elite Power has been ticking along nicely with placings at three of his four starts this campaign.

He found the line well to miss by just a nose last start and has yet to miss the top three at either the course or the distance.

He is drawn to get the run of the race from gate three and his recent ratings suggest he can measure up to these.

There is plenty to like about what Grand Koonta has been doing this campaign with three wins and a nose second from four starts.

He is putting together a handy record at this course winning four of five attempts and while he is yet to be proven at 1400m his fitness has been maintained with a solid trial.

Fame Star faces his class test but it's hard to knock him having won all four starts this time in with his front-running style.

He should be able to go forward without doing too much work from the good draw and while he is another that is some query at 1400m his winning form must be respected.

Mister Yeoh is another that has been freshened since the Raffles Cup where he finished midfield but had a string of good performances in Group races before that so on that front represents the class factor.

The 1400m suits him perfectly and he could well put his best forward.

Singapore newcomer Star Of Jupiter provides the X-factor.

Known as Spin in Australia where he was a multiple Group placegetter, he impressed when winning on the all weather first up and looks to have good upside.

Enjoy the race and happy punting.
