Rosehill: Race 7 @ 4.10pm

ROTHFIRE (1) clearly the horse to beat. Was dominant in the Run To The Rose, defeating all of the main rivals he faces again here despite giving them both weight and fitness. Will strip fitter for the run and now meets Run To The Rose runner up Ole Kirk and third placegetter North Pacific 2.5kg and 1.5kg better at the weights respectively. 1400m no issue having won the JJ Atkins over the trip during the winter. Four of the last six Run To The Rose winners have gone on to win the main event two weeks later and suspect he too will claim the double. NORTH PACIFIC (5) stuck to his task well in the Run To The Rose. Doubtful he can turn the tables on Rothfire however appears to be first in line if the favourite is off his game. PELTZER (7) produced his best performance last prep when winning over 1300m at Randwick. Bred to appreciate striking the 1400m third run from a spell. OLE KIRK (4) turned heads late in the Run To The Rose but was perhaps flattered late courtesy of the hot early pace. SELECTION: Can't go past #1 Rothfire for the win.

Caulfield: Race 5 @ 3.10pm
BUFFALO RIVER (5) can fly around here and should do just that. Any rain won't worry him at all and it would be no shock to see him run them right off their feet. WINDSTORM (7) was knocked off by TRAVIMYFRIEND (4) last time and without any real excuses in the run. Good piece of form and think the highly regarded Windstorm is the one to improve again off that. Has the 1400m run under his belt now and draws ideally for Pike to settle him down stalking a strong pace. MORRISSY (6) keeps fronting up and running well around here. Lacks the punch of the top two in the betting but honest. SELECTION: Good clash - leaning to the new blood #5 Buffalo River.

Morphettville: Race 6 @ 4.01pm (AEST)

TATALINA (8) missed the bob of the head a month ago but has looked like she wants this far. Finally gets to be near the pace without making a long run. BERTWHISTLE (1) has been racing so well. She plants herself off the back of the speed and puts herself into the finish. She is up a little more weight this time but hard to knock her application. ACE OF CLUBS (5) does not know how to run a bad one. He backed up recently and it was a win here. DR DEPENDABLE (2) will kick up and be one of the leaders. He can place again. CLASSY JOE (4) is another who doesn't mind racing again quickly. SELECTION: #8 Tatalina is the bet from the draw.

Belmont: Race 4 @ 4.17pm (AEST)
LEADING GIRL (5) is hard to go past after running over them at a mile here two weeks ago. Should have no trouble with the trip. GUNNAGO (3) is around the mark as always, shade disappointing last week but 100m less a plus. Go well. MACKENZIE BROOKE (2) did a big job first-up at 2200m when runner-up behind a smart one three weeks back. Fitter and must consider. NOIR DE RUE (1) always a chance and PADDY'S SHADOW (7) is an improver. SELECTION: #5 Leading Girl to win.

Toowoomba: Race 8 @ 5.38pm
THE ODYSSEY (4) is a smart sprinter who led and kept going to beat a good field that included Alligator Blood when he resumed at Doomben. Up to a trip where he has won six of 11 attempts and has scored second up before. Drawn to go forward again and looks tough to stop. JUST ORM (3) is racing in good form. Ran on when second to The Odyssey last start and had won his previous two at Doomben. That form must be respected. MASTER JAMIE (14) found form when leading throughout to score at Rockhampton last start. His confidence is back and could go on with it. BOOMSARA (5) hasn't raced since charging home for second in the Eye Liner in July. Keep safe fresh. LOVE YOU LUCY (6) was a dual stakes winner over the winter carnival and goes well first up. SELECTION: #4 The Odyssey looks well placed. Backing him to win again.
