Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for major Australian thoroughbred meetings on February 6.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Caulfield, Eagle Farm, Morphettville, Pinjarra & Gold Coast .
RANDWICK: RACE 9 @ 5:55PM
BLAZE A TRAIL (6) really caught the eye first up when closing off well behind Tycoonist. Race wasn't run to suit there and he is sure to be better suited at the mile. McDonald takes over and he simply looks better than this grade. Even luck, he goes very close. DERBARI (9) is on the quick back up having stuck on well behind Shaik last weekend. Returned a new career peak there and if able to repeat, he should be right in the finish again. ULYSSES (1) was no match for Le Lude last start, but still held his form and has to be included in the main chances, while SELICA (4) also has to be kept safe on best form.
SELECTIONS: Very keen on Blaze A Trail.

CAULFIELD: RACE 9 @ 5:35PM
GARNER (4) resumes. Beaten less than a length around here when resuming last time around and went out on the back of a good second to Ancestry which appeals as strong form. Recent trial said he was back in top order. VIRIDINE (1) is always going to be hard to beat in a race like this. Well established at the level and very reliable. BOLD STAR (3) has the talent and has a winning hope on his return here, as does HOW WOMANTIC (7) who looks like pressing forward into a good spot. SWORD OF MERCY (10) is fit and racing well enough to think that she has a chance with so many of the key hopes being first up.
SELECTIONS: Want to back Garner to win this.
EAGLE FARM: RACE 8 @ 5:07PM
BELLISSIMI AMICI (5) added to her strong record at this course when she drew away to score by 3L over this trip last time. That gave her two wins and four placings from six runs here and she gets the favours from the inside draw. Can do it again. NICCI'S SPIRIT (9) has returned in good order with placings at both starts since a spell. Missed by just half a length when runner up at Doomben last start and won his only previous third up attempt. Threat. JETTY (2) has a win and a placing from his past two at this distance range. Jim Byrne sticks. Has to be respected. BATANGAS ENTRY (1) and HE KNOWS (8) ran 1-2 last start and both can be involved again.
SELECTIONS: Bellissimi Amici to add to her good record here and win again.
MORPHETTVILLE: RACE 9 @ 5:16PM
PINDARIC (1) just keeps doing a little better each time. He showed speed of late and that will only help with the weight. He's also not exactly meeting a team of in form horses. DONE BY ME (5) gets the blinkers on now. She is the one down in grade but it has been some time since she scored. MIDNIGHT STORM (2) resumes off a solid campaign. Will benefit from a soft run in transit. OCEAN REWARD (8) has been around the mark but finds better company in this. ALL IN WAR (12) backs up off a decent effort.
SELECTIONS: Easy to like Pindaric again.
PINJARRA: RACE 4 @ 1:42PM
GIANT LEAP (2) has been costly being beaten as favourite in two runs back at Ascot but was up 400m in trip last time. Claim helps and while drawn out this is his big chance. COMFORT ME (1) had good support last start and didn't get the breaks. Entitled to another chance with the inside alley. HEELS A PLENTY (14) is on the way up and has prevailed at her past two for Pike. Worth including in the main chances. THAT'S FUNNY AZ (7) and BEAT THE BRO (4) have each-way claims.
SELECTIONS: Giant Leap to win. Trifecta 2-1,4,7,14/1,4,7,14.
GOLD COAST: RACE 5 @ 2:43PM
PATCHES (3) has filled the runner-up role on past four occasions. Well placed here and gets his chance to break through. Rate highly. PIERIDAE (4) is coming off a break. Fresh form reads well enough for this. Won't be too far away. OZARK (1) has been freshened since latest offering and has switched yards since. Has a strong record fresh and has claims if runs up to his mark. SISTER KITTY MAC (6) proved too nippy for them last time. Rates well on best figures and is worth keeping safe.
