HAWKESBURY: RACE 3 @ 3:00 PM

The very well-related DARK ENERGY (6) has finally hit his straps with a win and three placings from his past four outings. Has placed over this trip and will be at peak fitness now sixth-up. Looks the one they all have to run down. ARAMIS (5) broke through at start number two and will take confidence from that victory. In the mix. The honest BORSALINA (9) has only missed the top four once in her past ten starts and cannot be underestimated. KING OF SPADES (10) can show his best third up. SELECTION: Dark Energy to win.

WERRIBEE: RACE 1 @ 1:20 PM

SALTO ANGEL (8) showed good ability over a staying trip as a three with a second in the VRC Oaks a peak performance. She's been given plenty of time to get over her first up run and was a close up second behind the talented Princess Rhaenys when second up last preparation. She gets her chance here. EMERGING (6) made sharp improvement at his second lifetime start up in trip and on firmer footing. He looks well placed with more improvement to come. CELTIC GLORY (9) impressed when close up in town last start at double figure odds off a good second as favourite the start prior. She rates among the main hopes. DUKE OF HASTINGS (5) has been thereabouts in two runs to date and is one for the multiples out to this trip. REFORESTATION (3) has been close up at his past two starts in handy races and warrants respect. SELECTION: Salto Angel can notch an overdue Maiden win.

SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 4 @ 3:10 PM (AEDT)

PRINCE AMONGST MEN (7) finished third here start when having his first start for a new stable. Looks close to a win judging from that last start performance. FINNICKY (9) resumes following a spell of 22 weeks and was only just beaten last start when finishing second at Eagle Farm when well backed. Expected to go close fresh-up. KNOCKKNEE (13) looks one of the better chances following a fresh-up run last time out when finishing second as the race favourite. Has the right draw today to go one place better. DOCTOR JACK (1) has had two placings from three runs this time in but was only sixth last stat at Ipswich. Gets an easier field here than what he faced last start and can't be left out of calculations. SELECTION: Prince Amongst Men backing to win

BAIRNSDALE: RACE 5 @ 4:08 PM

SARNIA (10) scored here three runs back and two subsequent efforts have been strong, the most recent in town. Looks well placed against this weaker grade. Sure to go close. VITESSE BREEZE (1) is coming off a freshen. Form was hard to fault before a break and he should have plenty of residual fitness. Has to be respected. ELVARIC (8) has been placed in two of past three starts. Hit the line nicely at Mornington last time and must be respected here. PANAMA PAPERS (3) has had the four runs back from a break and recent performances have been strong. Forward showing on the cards here. SELECTION: Back Sarnia to win.

PINJARRA: RACE 6 @ 6:55 PM (AEDT)

AIRLIE QUEEN (4) Won well enough three starts back and since then has taken on some handy fields, she is stepping up in distance for the first time and her racing style suggests it should be right up her alley. William Pike sticks with her and that is good enough for us. PICK YOUR BATTLES (3) is a lightly tried seven year old that has raced very well this season with three placing from three starts. He should now be ready for the step up in trip here and can be expected to be right there at the finish. IRRITABLE RODNEE (2) was a winner on this track the last time he was fresh up and finds himself in the same situation here. He has trialled well enough recently and should appreciate the slight drop in grade for this. Watch closely. KASONORI (5) cleared maidens in style when winning fresh up and then wasn't far away when seventh at his next outing. He is still learning about the racing game but has enough ability to be a threat in this. Can win. SELECTION: Airlie Queen win bet.
