Brisbane Best: Eagle Farm – 4th June 2022

3 minute read

A dry track and an impeccable record at the course gives classy filly Gypsy Goddess an edge over her rivals in the Queensland Oaks, feature race of Saturday’s Eagle Farm card.

David Vandyke's filly has been set for this race since a brave second in the ATC Oaks and in her only run since she settled back and ran on to go under by half a length on a wet track.

Gypsy Goddess has won her two Eagle Farm appearances in impressive style and she is four from four on good tracks so will relish the drier weather this week.

She draws out but the skills of William Pike can be relied upon to overcome that and the barrier will ensure a better price in a race where she looks perfectly placed.

The dry track can also see Shooting For Gold produce his best form in the prior race, the Moreton Cup (1200m).

The gelding ran on for a Listed second when resuming over 1000m on a good surface two back but struck the wet last time and boxed on for fourth.

He has a 50 per cent strike rate on firm tracks and with three wins from five Eagle Farm visits along with three successes from four tries at this trip he ticks a few boxes and can peak third up at each way odds.
