Two-time Japanese horse of the year Almond Eye (Lord Kanaloa) has been confirmed in foal after being covered by Epiphaneia (Symboli Kris S).

The daughter of Lord Kanaloa (King Kamehameha), retired last November the winner ten of her 14 career starts, with her wins headed by nine victories at the top-level, which saw her accrue ¥1,611,718,175 ($20,955,962) in career prize-money.

She won her final race when regaining her crown in the Japan Cup (Gr 1, 2400m) and in doing so became only the second horse to win two Japan Cups, joining 2012 and 2013 heroine Gentildonna (Deep Impact).

Epiphaneia was himself a top-class performer on the track, winning six of his 14 starts including the Kikuka Sho (Japanese St Leger) (Gr 1, 3000m) in 2013 as well as the Japan Cup the following year.

Now based at the Shadai Stallion Station, Epiphaneia - whose oldest crop are four-year-olds - is the sire of four stakes winners headed by dual Grade 1 winner Daring Tact (King Kamehameha), while he is also the sire of Grade 2 winner Aristoteles and Grade 3 winner Efforia.
