The Champion Thoroughbreds-raced King Of Spades posts a debut win at Nowra on Monday

The John O'Shea-trained and Champion Thoroughbreds-raced King Of Spades (2 g ex Believer by Lawman) became the third winner for Newhaven Park's Xtravagant (Pentire) when he broke his maiden on debut in the Maiden Handicap (1200m) at Nowra on Monday. 

King Of Spades was bought by Champion Thoroughbreds and John O'Shea for $30,000 at last year's Inglis Classic Yearling Sale when offered by Newhaven Park. He is the first foal out of the placed British-bred mare Believer (Lawman)who is a half-sister to the French Group Three winner Wind Chimes (Mastercraftsman). The brother to King Of Spades sold for $15,000 to John Foote Bloodstock and Matthew Smith Racing at the Inglis HTBA Yearling Sale earlier this year. 

Xtravagant will stand for an unchanged fee of $11,000 (inc GST) this year. He covered a book of 94 mares last year, having stood his first three seasons at stud for $16,500 (inc GST).
