Untamed impressed on debut when winning over 1250m at Canterbury.

Untamed (Pierro), a Peter and Paul Snowden-trained juvenile, impressed on debut when winning over 1250 metres at Canterbury on Friday. The colt was a $450,000 purchase at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Luskin Park by China Horse Club and Newgate Bloodstock.

A recent winner of a Canterbury barrier trial, Untamed was ridden on Friday by Kerrin McEvoy who guided the colt to an easy length victory over the Mark Newnham-trained Mission Way (Hinchinbrook).

Untamed becomes the third winner for his dam, the unraced She's A Wildcat (Fastnet Rock), who is a sister to the now Woodside Park-based sire Foxwedge as well as the stakes-winning She's A Fox.

Untamed's half-sister, a daughter of Flying Artie (Artie Schiller), is catalogued as Lot 761 to sell on the Gold Coast next week from the draft of Middlebrook Valley Lodge.

Another colt to break his maiden at Canterbury was the John O'Shea-trained Quantico (I Am Invincible) who was having his second start having run second on debut last August. The three-year-old scored a half-length victory in the TAB Maiden Plate (1100m) beating Chris Waller's fast finishing filly April Rain (Pierro).

Quantico was a $1,050,000 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale purchase by China Horse Club, John O'Shea Racing and Boomer Bloodstock from the draft of Yarraman Park. He becomes the second winner for his dam Hoss Amor (General Nediym), a three time Listed winer.
