Regally-bred King's Legacy (2 c ex Breakfast in Bed by Hussonet) assured himself a place at stud on Saturday as he came from the rear to win the Inglis Sires' Produce Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) and in the process became Redoute's Choice's (Danehill) 38th Group 1 winner.

A $1.4 million purchase by James Harron at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2019 from the Segenhoe Stud draft, the colt was last seen running ninth in the Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) and he clearly relished the step up in trip, showing a devastating turn of foot to beat runaway leader Prague - who is also by Redoute's Choice - by half a length.

The colt's sister will be offered by Segenhoe Stud as Lot 355 at the upcoming Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale which gets underway online on Tuesday and becomes the second Group 1 update in as many weeks for yearlings in the farm's draft, with the nursery all set to offer Shout The Bar's (Not A Single Doubt) sister at the sale next week.

Segenhoe's general manager Peter O'Brien said he was delighted with the results over the past weeks', but he admitted, given the circumstances of this year's sale, the filly's would probably not make as much as they would have in previous renewals.

"To be able to offer two siblings to two recent Group 1 winners is just incredible," said O'Brien to Racing & Sports Bloodstock.

"Under normal circumstances I would be doing cartwheels down the road, but we have to be realistic and I would say that both fillies probably won't make what they would have made in a normal year, but that is the way it is.

"It is great for Kevin and Lesley [Maloney] and they are over the moon and it sort of franks everything they have invested. We have had an incredible year this year, especially with our two-year-old's."

O'Brien was also quick to heap praise on James Harron: "James always buys a beautiful horse and he has been a great supporter of ours over the years.

"I only said to him a few weeks ago that nothing would give me and Segenhoe more pleasure than this horse to win for him, because he has supported us and when he crossed the line in front James was who I was thinking of. He puts so much into the sport and the people in the syndicate are a wonderful group of people and it was well deserved."

On the similarities between the colt and his sister, O'Brien commented: "They both have the quality and beautiful heads.

"The sister would have more scope and wouldn't be as precocious looking. She is lighter and more effeminate, but she has his lovely action, but he was more a bull-dog Not A Single Doubt / Snitzel type of Redoute's and she is more of an elegant type and looks more of a three-year-old."

Inglis have battled the ever-changing landscape amid the coronavirus pandemic that has swept across the globe and due to the restrictions the auction house have been forced to hold the sale online and O'Brien was full of admiration for Inglis and their handling of the unprecedented situation.

"The inspections have been fantastic," said O'Brien. "I cannot praise Inglis enough, they have tried everything and have helped us in everything we needed. They have also done their level best to get as many people on the farm's to see the horses and really when you sit back and look at it there was nothing anyone could do and all of us going to sale we realise what we are up against, but we are going in with confidence because they are the best of the best horses."

The colt is out of stakes-placed mare Breakfast In Bed (Hussonet) - a half-sister to Flight Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Oohood (I Am Invincible) - and a daughter of Bella Sunday (Sunday Silence) who is herself a half-sister to Not A Single Doubt (Redoute's Choice).

Meanwhile, Bella Sunday and Not A Single Doubt also count Group 2-placed mare Hanky Panky (Anabaa) as their other half sibling and she produced Group 3 winner Master Ash (Sebring) and Listed scorer Come Hither (Redoute's Choice) - with the latter also the dam of fellow Listed winner Cohesion (Lonhro).

The trio's other sister Natural Is My Name (Naturalism) is the dam of Listed winner and sire Zizou (Fusaichi Pegasus).

Breakfast in Bed was raced by Segenhoe Thoroughbreds having been bought for $220,000 by Paul Moroney Bloodstock at the 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Arrowfield Stud. She was covered by Pierro (Lonhro) last November having produced a filly by I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit).

King's Legacy becomes the second Group / Grade 1 winner bred on this cross, joining South African Grade 1 winner Majmu.
