The Simon Miller-trained Giancana (3 f Street Boss - Socialista by New Approach) made a winning debut over 1000 metres at Northam on Thursday and in the process added a valuable pedigree update for her Lonhro (Octagonal) half-brother who is set to be offered at the Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale on Tuesday.

The three-year-old filly pulled clear in the closing stages to beat Scorpion Stormz (Ouqba) by a length and three-quarters, while Tibetan Black (Black Tom) was another neck away in third.

Purchased by her trainer for $110,000 at the 2019 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, the filly is the first winner out of unraced New Approach (Galileo) mare Socialista.

The filly’s third dam is Group 3 winner Anna Of Saxony (Ela-Mana-Mou), the dam of Anna Palariva (Caerleon), who in turn produced Group 3 scorer Anna Salai (Dubawi) and Listed-winning duo Iguazu Falls (Pivotal) and Advice (Seeking The Gold).

Anna Of Saxony also produced Anna Amalia (In The Wings) - the dam of Grade 1 scorer Ave (Danehill Dancer) and Listed-placed Anipa (Dubawi).

Further back this is the same family as Grade 1 winner National Defense (Invincible Spirit), who is currently standing at Sun Stud for a fee of $9,900 (inc GST).

Socialista’s Lonhro colt was purchased by Frankie Stockdale for $40,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale and will be offered as Lot 123. In 2019 the mare produced a filly by Newgate Farm’s exciting new stallion Russian Revolution (Snitzel) and she has most recently produced a filly by his barnmate Capitalist (Written Tycoon).
