Griffiths-trained pair post impressive wins at Cranbourne

The pair of two-year-old jump-outs conducted at Cranbourne on Monday were both taken out progeny of first-season sires, with the Robbie Griffiths-trained Fore - a daughter of Woodside Park Stud shuttler Cable Bay (Invincible Spirit), while Fore’s stablemate Gossitino, who is by Sun Stud resident Palentino (Teofilo), also won her jump-out.

Fore was quick to begin and led the whole way to post an impressive performance, to be eased down on the line in an approximate time of 49.11 seconds for the 800 metre trip.

The filly is out of three time winner and Group 3-placed Anatomica (Choisir), who has already produced one winner from two foals to race.

Anatomica herself is out of Africaine (Anabaa) and she is the dam of six further winners.

The filly’s third dam is unraced Phillipine Suite (Bold Flip), the dam of Group 3 scorer Molokai Prince (Biscay), who landed the Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL, 1200m) in 1988.

Further back this is the same family as Group 2 winner Flak Jacket (Rubiton) and stakes winners Manuatrice (Keltrice), Ballet Suite (High Chaparral), Casquets (Fastnet Rock) and Seaside Bank (Sikorsky).

Cable Bay’s northern hemisphere crop is headed by Group 2 winner Liberty Beach and Listed winner Jouska and he is standing at Woodside Park Stud in Victoria at a fee of $9,900 (inc GST).

In the next heat of the day, Gossitino began well and settled on the outside in second, which is where she stayed for much of the 800 metre trip. As the she field approached the line she pulled away from her rivals, finishing off the jump-out strongly in an approximate time of 47.52 seconds.

Griffiths said the filly would be nominated for the Inglis Banner 2YO Stakes (RL, 1000m) at Moonee Valley on Saturday, but the trainer said they would wait and see how she pulls up before making any concrete plans for the two-year-old.

Purchased by her trainer and Peter Ford Thoroughbreds for $30,000 at this year’s 2020 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, the filly is out of the unraced One Cool Cat (Storm Cat) mare Leica Gossip, who has already produced one winner from three foals to race.

The filly’s third dam is Group 1 winner Leica Smile (At Talaq), the dam of Listed winner Eclair Mystic (Stratum).

Further afield this is the same family as Leica Western (Best Western) and Group 2 scorer Moon Dragon (Danehill).

Palentino - who is yet to have any runners - is standing for a fee of $14,300 (inc GST).
