The Arrowfield Stud-based sire Dundeel (High Chaparral) sired his 12th stakes winner on Saturday as the Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained Victoria Quay (3 f ex Swan River by Danehill Dancer) landed the Wakeful Stakes (Gr 2, 2000m) at Flemington.

Last seen running second in the Hill Smith Stakes (Listed, 1800m), she relished the step up in trip to beat Personal (Fastnet Rock) by a long-neck, while Tyche Goddess (Teofilo) by a length and a half.

"She's always been a bit buzzy, immature upstairs, but she's really come a long way," McEvoy said.

Managing owner Suman Hedge said they would most likely spell Victoria Quay and set her for the Australasian Oaks (Gr 1, 2500m) at Morphettville in May.

Purchased by his trainer and Suman Hedge Bloodstock for $250,000 at the 2019 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale from the Rushton Park, the filly is one of five winners out of Danehill Dancer (Danehill) mare Swan River.

Swan River herself is a half-sister to Group 2 winners Count Encosta (Encosta De Lago) and Lieutenant (Danehill Dancer).

In 2019 Swan River produced a colt by Aquis Farm-based Invader (Snitzel), while this season she foaled a brother to Victoria Quay.

Dundeel stands at Arrowfield Stud for a fee of $66,000 (inc GST) and he is joined the roster this season by his son Castelvecchio, who is being offered to breeders at a fee of $33,000 (inc GST).
