Connections of Group 1 winner September Run (Exceed And Excel) are hoping that the filly bounces back in the William Reid Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) at Moonee Valley on Friday night, following her disappointing run in the Newmarket Handicap (Gr 1, 1200m) where she finished tenth after starting the $2.80 favourite.

Raced by Hermitage Thoroughbreds and trained by Chris Waller, September Run's last two starts have come down the straight at Flemington. She was taken to Moonee Valley on Monday and jockey Craig Williams is confident that she will run better on Friday having handled turns in her runs previously.

"She gets around the tight turns, but this will be the time to assess her properly," Williams said.

"She did win a Listed race around a bend at Doomben as a two-year-old, a tight track, so she has got around turns before.

"It's just the pressure and the way this race will be run at weight-for-age, that will be the telling factor.

"If she brings her A-game and has a bit of luck, then on her best form she could be too good for them.

"Physically she's extremely well, the stable is happy with her. She's had some more experience at The Valley, so we can look forward to the race on Friday night."

September run has drawn barrier 13 and is set to face 13 rivals. She is second favourite behind Libertini (I Am Invincible) with Ancestry (The Brothers War) on the TAB's third line of betting.
