The Shadwell Stud-raced Qeyaady (2 c I Am Invincible - Shaaheq by Redoute's Choice) got off the mark at the third attempt when he broke his maiden over 1000 metres at Sandown-Hillside on Monday and in the process handed his Written Tycoon (Iglesia) half-brother a timely update ahead of him going through the ring on the first day of Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale on Tuesday.

The Lindsay Park-trained two-year-old colt was last seen running third behind subsequent Group 1-placed colt Anamoe (Street Boss) over 1000 metres at Moonee Valley on November 28, having finished sixth in the Merson Cooper Stakes (Listed, 1000m) on debut on November 14.

Qeyaady opened up the field shortly after straightening, leading by almost three lengths before getting tired inside the final 100 metres, but just had enough left in the tank to beat Deluxe Legend (Snitzel), while Shootoose (Shooting To Win) was another five lengths away in third.

"It certainly wasn’t a disadvantage (having the track experience) from the Merson Cooper, he was far from disgraced in that race and the benefit of having that run and the next one at Moonee Valley certainly helped him today," Dabernig and Hayes' Flemington-based foreman Dara O'Meachair told Racing.com.

"He was able to jump away cleanly and quickly, put himself on speed and controlled the race. He was probably looking for a little break after the end of the spring, he's matured well and done well, enjoying his time out and has come back a lovely colt."

Bred and raced by Shadwell, the colt is one of three winners from as many foals to race out of the operation’s 2010 VRC Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) winner Shaaheq (Redoute’s Choice).

Shaaheq herself is a daughter of Group 3 winner Damaschino (Last Tycoon), who is herself a daughter of Group 3-placed Princess Jocinda (Imposing), making her a half-sister to Group 1 scorer Bawalaksana (Straight Strike).

Princess Jocinda is also the grandam of Group 3-winning pair Arbeitsam (Snitzel) and Payroll (Not A Single Doubt) as well as Listed scorer Luen On Treasure (Dane Shadow).

In February it was announced Shadwell Stud would disband their Australian holdings and as a result 12 of their yearlings will be offered as part of the Yarraman Park Stud draft at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, including Qeyaady’s aforementioned Written Tycoon half-brother, who is catalogued as Lot 77.

Meanwhile, Shaaheq herself will be offered at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast next month and she is carrying a sibling to Qeyaady.

Qeyaady becomes I Am Invincible’s tenth juvenile winner in Australia and New Zealand this season, headed by five stakes winners including Group 2 winners Home Affairs and Imperatriz, while they also include Najmaty who landed the Redoute's Choice Stakes (Listed, 1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

I Am Invincible has 53 lots catalogued at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, including three bred on the same Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) cross.
