The Damien Lane-trained Impact Star (2 g ex Etoile Filly by No Excuse Needed) broke his maiden in Friday’s Trackside Photography Handicap (1000m) at Port Macquarie to provide his Vinery Stud-based first season sire Star Turn (Star Witness) with his sixth winner.

Having his third career start, Impact Star beat Dawntillarvi (Dawn Approach) by just under two lengths with Imatruestar (Star Turn) another length further back in third.

Owned by Impact Racing, Impact Star was bought by her trainer for $26,000 at last year’s Book 2 session of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and he becomes the fifth winner for his winning dam Etoile Fille (No Excuse Needed). She also produced Group 3 placed filly Stop Making Sense (Sebring) and is a daughter of Group 3 winner and Group 1 placed Starcent (Centaine). This is also the family of Group winners Strike The Stars (Savabeel), Savy Yong Blonk (Savabeel) and Another Dollar (Ocean Park).

Star Turn sits second behind Capitalist in the leading first season sires table in Australia by winners while Shalaa (Invincible Spirit), Flying Artie (Artie Schiller), Frosted (Tapit), Maurice (Screen Hero) and Sooboog (Snitzel) have all sired five winners in Australia to date.
