Rosemont Stud’s Anthony Mithen is confident Brooklyn Hustle (Starspangledbanner) can break her long run of bad luck when she tackles the Robert Sangster Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) at Morphettville on May 1.

The daughter of Rosemont Stud shuttler Starspangledbanner (Choisir) was last seen running seventh in the William Reid Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) and has been for freshen up before she embarks on her trip to South Australia.

“She had a little freshen, came back to Mark Young at our Rosemont pre-training facility, had a little go on the water walker and a day in the paddock. A little day spa as we call it,” Mithen said.

“She came out of that in great fashion. She’s going to have a jump out (this week).

“We are going to tinker around and put a set of blinkers on her and see if it might get her a little bit closer to the speed.”

Mark Zahra has been booked to ride Brooklyn Hustle in the Sangster.

“We are very excited about her changing her own fortunes, making her own luck for a change,” Mithen said.

“Morphettville suits her style of racing, which is part of the reason why we have gone that way rather than Sydney or up to Brisbane. And there’s the two races.

“If she runs well in the Sangster she can go into the Goodwood then.

“It’s a tricky one because she’s not a stakes winner yet, but she’s shown herself to have Group 1 ability. So we just have to be patient with her.”
