The Toby and Trent Edmonds-trained Me Me Lagarde (2 f ex Roedean by Flying Spur) provided Vinery Stud’s first season sire Star Turn (Star Witness) with his tenth first crop winner.

Raced by Gerry Harvey after being passed in for $70,000 at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale when offered by Baramul Stud, Me Me Lagarde beat Vienna Empress (Holy Roman Emperor) by a nose with Quix (I Am Invincible) a head further back in third when having her first start in Monday's For The Workers Maiden Hanicap (1100m) at Ipswich.

Me Me Lagarde becomes the sixth winner out of the Group 3 placed mare Roedean (Flying Spur) who has also produced stakes placed gelding Hoylonny (Lonhro).

Star Turn, who has also sired one winner in Hong Kong, sits one behind Capitalist (Written Tycoon) at the head of the leading first season sires table in Australia by winners. The stallion covered a book of 167 mares at Vinery Stud last year at a fee of $16,500 (inc GST) and his fee remains the same for 2021.
