Widden Stud Victoria-based sire Palentino (Teofilo) sired his first winner on Thursday when his son Palencia (2 g ex Dynamic Lass by Redoute's Choice) made a winning debut over 1200 metres at Townsville.

The two-year-old gelding forged clear to beat Purple Hat (Furnaces) by an impressive four and a quarter lengths. Getiton (Falvelon) was another quarter of a length away in third.

Purchased by Group 1 for $62,500 at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Lyndhurst Stud Farm draft, the gelding is the fifth winner out of three time-winning Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) mare Dynamic Lass, who was herself purchased by Goldstar Thoroughbreds for $15,000 at the Inglis Melbourne Spring Thoroughbred Sale in 2018 when carrying Palencia in utero.

Dynamic Lass herself is a daughter of Group 2 scorer Dynamic Love (Brave Warrior).

Further back this is the same pedigree as Listed winner Key Bar Nights (Anabaa) - the dam of fellow Listed scorer Barbed (Canny Lad).

Dynamic Lass’s colt by Better Than Ready (More Than Ready) was purchased by Paul Nolan jnr for $220,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale earlier in the year.

Palentino will stand the 2021 season at an unchanged fee of $11,000 (inc GST).
