Marboosha takes out Gold Coast Guineas.
Former Aquis Farm shuttler Dream Ahead (Diktat) was provided with his 12th Group winner on Saturday when the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained filly Marboosha (3 f ex Boomex by Exceed And Excel) landed the Gold Coast Guineas (Gr 3, 1200m).
The three-year-old filly won the Incognitus Stakes (Listed, 1100m) at Flemington on March 6 and she was narrowly denied her first victory at Group level on her previous start when finishing second in the PJ Bell Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) at Randwick on April 10.
However, she finally broke through her second black-type victory when beating Tramonto (Wandjina) by a length. Kisukano (Bel Esprit) was another nose away in third.
Co-trainer Paul Snowden said the filly would now head to the paddock for a spell.
"We needed something to work for us early, thinking pre-race there was a lot of speed there and we would get that midfield spot," Snowden said. "We were just going to wait until they turned for home and try to get her through her gears.
"But Jimmy (Byrne) summed it up early and we got across nicely.
"She was probably all out of tickets in the concluding stages but it was a good win.
"She is in the paddock tomorrow. She has got a lot more to give in the spring and this gives us the opportunity to put her away and set her for the spring."
Bred and raced by Emirates Park, is the only winner out of the unraced Exceed And Excel (Danehill) mare Boomex and she is herself a daughter of Group 2-placed Boom Time Savings (Secret Savings).
Boom Time Savings is a half-sister to 2013 Maribyrnong Plate (Gr 3, 1000m) winner Boomwaa (Mutawaajid).
In 2018 Boomex produced a filly by Artie Schiller (El Prado) - he is now called Burum and is unraced. In 2019 she foaled a colt by Newgate Farm's Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m)-producing first-season sire Flying Artie (Artie Schiller) and he was purchased by Ciaron Maher Bloodstock for $130,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale earlier in the year.
The mare foaled a colt by former Coolmore Stud shuttler No Nay Never (Scat Daddy) last spring and she has most recently been covered by Yarraman Park-based sire I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit).
Marboosha is one of seven individual stakes winners bred by Emirates Park this season, with the others being; Najamaty, Liwa, Lightsaber, Marboosha, Flirtini and Enthaar. The operation is sitting fourth in the leading breeders table in Australia this season by number of stakes winners.
The sire of 31 stakes winners in total, Dream Ahead shuttled to Australia for seven seasons between 2012 and 2018 and his 2021 fee at Haras de Grandcamp in France is advertised at €12,000.
