Leading Newgate Farm-based first-season stallion Capitalist (Written Tycoon) sired his second winner in as many days, taking his overall tally of winners to 14 - which includes a winner in New Zealand - when Alcudia (2 f ex Xandretta by Flying Spur) got off the mark at the second time of asking over 1175 metres at Albury on Friday.

Last seen running fourth at Terang on April 18, the Lindsay Park-trained two-year-old filly beat Kee Kee Mofeed (Akeed Mofeed) by a length and a half, while Allez Brew (Pierro) was a further head further away in third.

Alcudia is out of winning Flying Spur (Danehill) mare Xandretta, making her a half-brother to Group 3 winner Vinicunca (I Am Invincible).

Xandretta herself is half-sister to 2005 ATC Champagne Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Carry On Cutie (More Than Ready) and this is also the same pedigree as The Mission, who also landed the ATC Champagne Stakes in 2017 and now stands at Aquis Farm.

In 2019 Xandretta produced a filly by Capitalist’s barnmate Deep Field (Northern Meteor) and she was purchased by Black Soil Bloodstock, John Foote Bloodstock and Gollan Racing for $520,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale earlier this year and she was served by the same stallion last spring.

Capitalist, who sits at the head of the leading first season sires table in Australia by both earnings and winners has sired four stakes winners in Group 1 winner Captivant, Kalashnikov, Profiteer and Tycoon Humma while his first crop also includes six stakes performer in Gleneagles, Miss Tuppence, Sneaky Shark, Forbes, Marine One and Mission Value. His prize money earnings total just over $430,000 more than nearest rival, his barnmate Extreme Choice (Not A Single Doubt), while his winners count in Australia is three clear of Star Turn (Star Witness).
