Insurrection breaks his maiden at Muswellbrook on Friday

Russian Revolution

Newgate Farm's Russian Revolution (Snitzel), who currently heads the first season sires table in Australia by both earnings and winners, recorded his eighth winner on Friday when Insurrection (2 c ex Marple Miss by Not A Single Doubt) broke his maiden over 1000 metres at Muswellbrook.

Trained by Michael Freedman and raced by Darby Racing, Insurrection settled down behind the leading pair and ran on in the final stages to beat the Annabel Neasham-trained favourite Economics (Capitalist) by a length.

The winner was bought by Darby Racing and Will Johnson Bloodstock for $150,000 at last year's Inglis Classic Yearling Sale when offered by Ascot Park and he took his record to one win and one placing in three career starts.

Russian Revolution's progeny earnings total $1,531,820, over $750,000 clear of nearest rival The Mission (Choisir) and he is now one of three first season sires to have now sired eight winners; The Mission and Heroic Valour (Fastnet Rock) being the others.
