The Little Avondale Stud-based Group One-winning sire Nadeem (Redoute's Choice) has died. He was 18.

Bred by John Foote, Nadeem was bought for $700,000 as a yearling by Shadwell Estate Company.

Sent to the stable of David Hayes, the colt was a brilliant winner of the 2006 Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) on his way to being crowned Champion two-year-old colt of his year.

"It is with a heavy heart that Little Avondale announce the passing of Nadeem," Little Avondale Stud said in a statement.

"The Group One-winning son of Redoute's Choice had not been in great health lately and the decision was taken this week to humanly euthanise the 18-year-old."

Nadeem had spent a decade at LA Sud farm after initially standing at Darley Australia for five seasons.

He was the sire of Group 1 winner Sterling City and 18 other stakes winners at a strike rate of nearly 6 percent stakes winners to runners.
