Diana's Affair scores a debut victory at the Sunshine Coast
The Kelly Schweida-trained Diana's Affair (2 c ex Diana's Star by Northern Meteor) scored on debut at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday to provide Coolmore Australia's Merchant Navy (Fastnet Rock) with his seventh winner.
The filly, a $210,000 purchase by her trainer from the draft of Segenhoe Stud at last year's Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, is the third foal of unraced Northern Meteor (Encosta De Lago) mare Diana's Star who has a yearling filly by Not A Single Doubt (Redoute's Choice) who is named Hinata and was a $425,000 buy by Cambridge Stud at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in January.
Merchant Navy's 2022 fee is set at $27,500 (inc GST), down from $33,000 last year when the son of Fastnet Rock (Danehill) covered 127 mares.
