Caturra wins the Rose Bowl Stakes at Newbury

Mehmas notched up his 13th stakes winner on Friday when the Clive Cox-trained Caturra (2 c ex Shoshoni Wind by Sleeping Indian) won the Rose Bowl Stakes (Listed, 6f) at Newbury. 

Taking the lead inside the final 200 metres, Caturra scored by a neck from Detail (Dabirsim) with another three quarters of a length back to favourite Orazio (Caravaggio) in third. 

Bought for 110,000gns at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Caturra has now won twice and is the first stakes winner and one of three winners out of the Listed placed mare Shoshoni Wind (Sleeping Indian). 

The Tally Ho-based Mehmas has sired six Group winners in two crops to race to date headed by Group One winning colt Supremacy.
