The regally bred Maydanny (4 g ex Dubawi - Attraction by Efisio) broke his maiden at Betway Heed Your Hunch Handicap (1m) at Yarmouth on Wednesday.

The Mark Johnston-trained gelding, who had not been seen since June 2019, drew clear in the final stages to beat Arigato (Poet’s Voice) by a decisive three and three quarter lengths, while Balgair (Foxwedge) finished another two and half lengths back to Balgair (Foxwedge) in third.

Purchased by Shadwell for a whopping 1,350,000gns at Book 1 of the 2017 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale from the Floors Stud draft, the gelding is out of multiple Group 1-winning champion mare Attraction (Efisio).

Maydanny is a half-brother to the Group 2 and Group 1-placed Elarqam (Frankel) and Group 3 winner Fountain Of Youth (Oasis Dream) and further afield this is the family of Listed Titi Makfi (Makfi).

The gelding is by top-class stallion Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) - who stood at Darley’s Dalham Hall for a fee of £250,000.
