Having been last seen taking out the Premio Mario Incisa (Listed, 2000m), the talented Auyantepui (3 f ex Sopran Enery by Montjeu) retained her unbeaten record with a fine victory in the Oaks D’Italia (Gr 2, 2200m) at Milan on Sunday.

The Nicolo Simondi-trained filly, who was sent off favourite, stormed home to beat  Memphis (Jukebox Jury) by a neck with another three quarters of a length back to Made In Italy (Mukhadram) in third.

The filly, who is now raced by OTI Racing and partners, is one of three winners out of winning Montjeu (Sadler’s Wells) mare Sopran Enery, who is herself out of Group 2 winner Sopran Londa (Danehill), making her a half-sister Group 1 winner Cima De Triomphe (Galileo) and Listed winner Sopran Montieri (Manduro) and three time winner Sopran Lori (Irish River).

Sopran Lori produced Group 3 winner Loritania (Teofilo) and Listed scorer Lo Zoccolo Duro (Acclamation).

Auyantepui is one of 15 stakes winners for the former Darley shuttler Night Of Thunder (Dubawi) and joins Night Colours as the stallion’s other Group 2 winner.

The son Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) shuttled to Australia for one season and his southern hemisphere crop is headed by two stakes winners, including Group 2 winner A Beautiful Night and unbeaten Cherry Tortoni, who took out the Taj Rossi Series Final Handicap (Listed, 1600m) at Flemington on Saturday.

Night Of Thunder now resides exclusively at Darley's Kildangan Stud in Ireland where his fee for 2020 was set at €25,000. It was announced earlier in the week that he would also be available to cover to southern hemisphere time.
