The Ken Condon-trained Laws Of Indices (2 c ex Sampers by Exceed And Excel) landed a 66/1 shock to win the Railway Stakes (Gr 2, 6f) at the Curragh on Saturday in the process handed Oaklands Stud-based sire Power (Oasis Dream) with his 13th stakes winner.

Last seen breaking his maiden at Navan at the second time of asking, the two-year-old colt showed an impressive turn of foot to beat Lucky Vega (Lope De Vega) by half a length. Arctician (Dark Angel) came home another two and three-quarter lengths adrift in third.

Purchased by Dermot Farrington for a mere €8,000 at the Goffs Autumn Yearling Sale from the  Rathasker Stud draft, the colt is out of three time-winning Exceed And Excel (Danehill) mare Sampers - who has produced three other winners.

The colt’s third dam is Prix de Malleret (Gr 2, 2400m) winner Privity (Private Account), the dam of Listed scorer Privet Hedge (First Defence).

Further back this is the same family as Group 3 winner Zindari (Private Account), who was also placed at Group 1 level and he is a half-brother Nesaah (Topsider), who in turn produced Group 3 winner Oxford Ness (Selkirk) - the dam of Group 2 scorer Weightless (In The Wings), Group 3 winner Main Aim (Oasis Dream) and Listed winner Home Affairs (Dansili).

Meanwhile, Group 2-winning duo Red Cardinal (Montjeu) and Maria Royal (Montjeu) also feature on the page.

Power’s other stakes winners are headed by Group 2 winning pair Gift Of Power, who won the Wakefield Challenge Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) and La Force and he will stand for a fee of $11,000 (inc GST) at the Queensland-based stud this season.
