After surrendering his unbeaten record in the Prix du Jockey Club (Gr 1, 2100m) on his last start, the Jean-Claude Rouget-trained Port Guillaume (3 c ex Keira by Turtle Bowl) regained the winning thread when landing the Prix Hocquart (Gr 2, 2500m) at Deauville on Saturday.

The three-year-old colt pulled away in the closing stages to beat Ketil (Karakontie) by three lengths with another nose back to Pao Alto (Intello) in third.

Purchased by his trainer for €55,000 at the 2018 Arqana Deauville October Yearling Sale, the colt is out of four time-winning mare Keira, making him a brother to Listed winner Aubevoye. Keira herself is a half-sister to German Listed winner Shutterbug (Soldier Of Fortune), while she is a sister to stakes-placed pair Lakalas and Anahita.

Further back the colt is from the same family as Group 3 winner No Limit Credit (Night Of Thunder).

Le Havre stood Montfort et Preaux for a fee of €50,000 in 2020.
