The James Ferguson-trained Zoetic (2 f ex Zallerina by Zamindar) - who is owned by Australian outfit Glentree Pastoral - proved too strong for her rivals in the St Hugh’s Fillies’ Stakes (Listed, 5¼f) at Newbury on Sunday and in the process became the 60th stakes winner for Tally-Ho Stud resident Kodiac (Danehill).

The two-year-old filly was last seen breaking her maiden at Wolverhampton and she had no issues with the step up in class, coming away with a three-quarter length victory over Fairy Dust (Gregorian), while Caroline Dale (Lethal Force) was another length and a quarter back in third.

Purchased by Badgers Bloodstock for £52,000 2019 Goffs UK Doncaster Premier Yearling Sale, the filly is out of the unraced Zallerina (Zamindar), who is herself a half-sister to Surrey Thunder (Le Havre).

The filly’s third dam is Group 3 winner Zarkiya (Catrail), who is herself a half-sister to the dam of multiple Group 1 winner Zarkava (Zamindar), who in turn produced Group 1 winner Zarak (Dubawi) and Listed winner Zarkamiya (Frankel).

Tally-Ho Stud-based sire Kodiac’s progeny is headed by four Group 1 winners, including 2018 Caulfield Cup (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Best Solution and the Cambridge Stud co-owned Hello Youmzain, who added a second Group 1 to his CV when he landed the Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Gr 1, 6f) at Royal Ascot earlier in the season.
