Stormy Pouss lands Prix Delahante at Marseille Borely on Monday

The Haras de Saint Arnoult-based Stormy River (Verglas) was handed his 13th stakes winner when his daughter Stormy Pouss (2 f ex Poussette by Green Desert) landed the Prix Delahante (Listed, 1800m) at Marseille Borely on Monday.

The two-year-old filly raced for much of the contest at the back and as the field entered the straight he glided to the front to beat Smile Makers (Kendargent) by a length, while  Lepti Prinsadi (Prince Gibraltar) finished another half a length away in third.

Stormy Pouss is one of two winners out of four time-winning Green Desert (Danzig) mare Poussette and she is herself a half-sister to Listed winner Birthplace (King Of Kings), with the pair both being out of Group 3 winner Berceau (Alleged).

Berceau herself is a daughter of Listed-placed mare River Lullaby (Riverman) and she also produced Group 2 winner Wixim (Diesis) and Grade 3 winner Run Softly (Deputy Minister).

River Lullaby is also the grandam of Grade 3 winner Hessonite (Freud) and Listed-winning pair European Rose (Nureyev) and Roanoke (Danehill), who won the City Tattersall's Club Cup (Listed, 2400m) in 2006.

River Lullaby is also the grandam of stakes-placed mare Nureyev's Girl (Nureyev) - the dam of Hardham (Redoute’s Choice), who won the Alister Clark Stakes (Gr 2, 2040m) in 2017 and 2010 New Zealand 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) winner King’s Rose (Redoute’s Choice), who in turn produced Japanese Grade 3 scorer Satono Arthur (Deep Impact).

Further back the filly hails from the same family as dual New Zealand Group 1 winner Anabandana (Anabaa).

Stormy River stood for a fee of €2,200 in 2020.
