Federico Barberini pays Oak Lodge and Springfield House Stud €155,000 for youngster

A filly by Gilltown Stud-based sire Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) was the headline act of the Goffs Foal and Breeding Stock Sale on Saturday as Federico Barberini went to €155,000 for the Oak Lodge and Springfield House Stud-consigned yearling.

Catalogued as Lot 451, the filly is out of winning Indian Ridge (Ahonoora) mare Mooney Ridge, making the filly a half-sister stakes-placed duo Troublemaker (Vita Rosa) and Ranger In Paradise (Holy Roman Emperor).

Mooney Ridge herself is a daughter of Italian Listed winner Holy Moon (Hernando) - the dam of Group 1 winner Charity Line (Manduro) and Final Score (Dylan Thomas), as well as Sea Of Class (Sea The Stars). Mooney Ridge is also the dam of Group 2 winner Cherry Collect (Oratorio) and Group 3 scorer Wordless (Rock Of Gibraltar).

Earlier in the day, a filly by Coolmore Stud shuttler Saxon Warrior (Scat Daddy) was purchased by MAB Agency and Larry Sratton for €88,000.

Catalogued as Lot 329, the filly is out of winning Iffraaj (Zafonic) mare Cascella, who is herself a daughter of Group 3 scorer Lily’s Angel (Dark Angel).

Further afield this is the same family as Group 3 scorer Bellarida (Bellypha) - the dam of fellow Group 3 scorer In Clover (Inchinor), who in turn in produced Group 1-winning trio Call The Wind (Frankel), With You (Dansili) and We Are (Dansili).

At the close of trade on day two, 174 lots sold for an aggregate of €4,855,900 at an average of €27,907, while the median was €20,000.
